We're all eager to say goodbye to 2020, but our normal New Year's Eve festivities don't work so well in the middle of a global pandemic.

Before you resign yourself to yet another boring night at home on December 31st, consider starting a new tradition: Let your children plan your New Year's Eve celebration.

Now you might be rolling your eyes thinking how your children wouldn't have a clue as to how to do that. But that's where my New Year's Eve Planning Guide for Kids comes in. It will walk your child through the steps of planning a family celebration that you'll always remember.

That's right, your children will do the planning for a change! (And handle the decorating, cooking, and entertainment too!)

Ready to sit back and relax?

(And hey, it's not like you have other plans this year, right?)

What's inside:

  • a kid-friendly planning checklist

  • a kid-friendly planning sheet

  • New Year's Eve theme ideas

  • activities and entertainment suggestions

  • instructions for making confetti poppers

  • recipe for confetti slime

  • DIY decoration ideas

  • kid-friendly dessert ideas

  • ideas for saying goodbye to 2020 and welcoming 2021

  • New Year's Eve traditions from around the world for inspiration

  • a fill-in-the-blank invitation

What your children will learn:

It won't feel like learning (because they'll be having so much fun!), but your children will be developing a lot of valuable skills as they work on this project. Here are just a few:

  • planning and prioritizing

  • time management

  • organization

  • flexible thinking

  • goal-directed persistence

All of these are essential executive function skills that help us succeed in school and life.
